Mexico native Marianela de la Hoz currently lives and works in Vista, California. Working in the traditional medium of egg tempura, her detailed and delicate work speaks to the deeply rooted traditions of magical realism from her homeland.

"I paint my images with kindness and love, the small formats draw the viewer toward the artwork just as a fly trapper plant seduces its prey;  and then, the spectator is left with no alternative, the painting is a trap, the bomb explodes. The content of my work is based on reality and the paintings confront today's troubled and incredible times."

Her work can be found in private and public collections throughout Mexico and the United States.
