Art Lab: Basics of Framing, December 3

Description

This workshop will teach you the basics of custom framing. Students will learn about frame anatomy, styles and their uses; how to accurately measure artwork and mats; how to appropriately mount artwork and cut mats; how to create decorative mats and borders; how to install glass; and how to add finishing hardware and backings.

Supplies

ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED to complete one framed piece (including black frame, black or white mat, hanging hardware, glass, backing, acid-free tapes and glues, glazing points, and more)

Students must bring: one 4"x6" or 5"x7" photo, art print, or original art on paper (no canvases)

About Your Instructors

Jeannette L Herrera has been a Certified Picture Framer through the Professional Picture Framers of America since 1993.  Her framing work has been utilized by national museums and private collections.  She became a full-time artist in 2010 and has representation through Alida Anderson Arts and Keep Contemporary. You can find her work in the permanent collection of The Cheech in Riverside, Ca. She shows in galleries and museums nationwide. She resides and continues to create in North Texas. 

 

Angi Kirk was raised in southern Michigan and moved to Wichita Falls in 2012. She has been with Hobby Lobby since 2003 and began managing the framing department at the Wichita Falls location in 2015.
